Last Updated: June 12, 2026

Thank you for choosing socialwatch.ai. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you use our website and services (collectively, the “Platform” or “Service”). It also explains your rights and how to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

By using the Platform, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use the Platform.

1. Scope of This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to all information collected through our Platform, which includes:

  • Our website: https://socialwatch.ai
  • Our application(s), APIs, and other related services that reference or link to this Privacy Policy

It does not apply to third-party websites, applications, or services that we do not control, even if they are referenced or linked to from our Platform. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access. SocialWatch is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Meta Platforms, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X (Twitter), or any other social media platform.

2. Information We Collect

We collect personal and non-personal data for various purposes. The types of information we collect may include:

Personal Information Provided by You

Account Registration: If you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, and password. When you accept our Terms, Disclaimer, and Privacy Policy, we also record your first and last name, the date and time of acceptance, the version you accepted, and a hashed (non-reversible) form of your IP address as proof of consent. If you accept on behalf of an organization, we additionally record the organization's name and the name and role of its authorized representative. We rely on this record to evidence your agreement and your representations (such as guardianship or guardian consent where a subject is a minor).

Contact Information: If you contact us (e.g., via email or support form), we collect the information you voluntarily provide (name, email, message).

Payment Information (if applicable): If you purchase a service, we may collect billing details (payment card info processed by a secure third-party payment processor).

Automatically Collected Information

Usage Data: Information about how you interact with our Platform, such as pages visited, links clicked, and features used.

Device Information: IP address, operating system, browser type, and unique device identifiers.

Log Data: Server logs that may include your IP address, browser type, access times, and other usage data.

Social Media Data

Analyzed Content: Our system analyzes only publicly available content from the social media accounts followed by a person who has accepted an invitation and chosen to share the accounts they follow. That list comes from a data export the invited person requests directly from the social platform and uploads to us themselves; we read only the list of public handles (usernames) of the accounts they follow from that file, and use nothing else it contains. When the invited person accepts the invitation, we also record their acceptance — the date and time, the version of the consent screen shown, and a hashed (non-reversible) form of their IP address and browser user-agent — as proof of their informed consent. From those handles we read public posts, public captions, public profile bios, and links shared in public posts — content any visitor can already see. We do not log into any user's account on any social media platform, we do not collect or store credentials, we do not bypass any login wall, and we do not access private accounts, direct messages, non-public stories, drafts, location history, or any other content that requires authentication. We do not perform facial recognition or biometric inference; the analysis is based on text and metadata only. Public content is used in the moment to extract signals and is not retained; the long-lived record is the derived signals — tags, scores, and area aggregates — used to render the report on demand.

How is the followed accounts list shared: An invited person shares their following list by requesting their own data export from the social platform (using the platform's official "export your information" / "download your data" feature), downloading the file, and uploading it to SocialWatch. We do not run any script, helper, or software on the invited person's device, browser, or social media account, and nothing needs to be installed. Before anything is sent, the invited person sees exactly which accounts will be shared and must tap Share to confirm; we receive only the list of accounts they follow and discard the rest of the export. Invite links may be reused so the invited person can upload an updated export whenever you run a new analysis.

If we make material changes, we may notify you via email or a prominent notice on our Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.

14. Independence and No Platform Affiliation

SocialWatch is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by Meta Platforms, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X (Twitter), or any other social media platform. Any references to those platforms are nominative and descriptive only. The Platform reads only content that the relevant account owner has chosen to make public, and it does not have or claim any special API relationship with those platforms.

15. No Solely Automated Decisions and No AI Training on Your Data

Reports generated by the Platform are descriptive analyses for personal awareness, not automated decisions. Any human acting on a report is solely responsible for the decision they make and is the controller of that decision under applicable data-protection law. The Platform must not be used as part of any process that produces legal or similarly significant effects on a person without meaningful human review (for example, decisions about employment, tenancy, credit, insurance, immigration, or child custody). Separately, we do not fine-tune AI models on user data, and we do not allow our model providers to use our prompts or your data to train their models.

16. Subject Removal Requests

If you are the owner of a social media account whose public content may be read because someone who follows you has been the subject of an analysis, and you do not want your public profile to be included in current or future SocialWatch reports, please email contact@socialwatch.ai with your handle. We will exclude your account from current and future analyses and remove any cached public content tied to that handle, subject to verification, within a reasonable time. This is in addition to any access, deletion, or correction rights you may have under applicable data-protection law.
